At this price point and with Willamette Valley on the label, how could I pass it in the aisle. First impression in the glass, thin and translucent for a PN so we waited for the taste. Fresh, then fruit, then whole mouth...surprising for a cork that was barely wet. When did this hit the bottle?

As a table wine with chicken salad, on a summer afternoon after mowing the lawn, and a picnic wine in a plastic cup...wow, this is a pretty delicious deal. Have tried to learn about this vineyard and it doesn't show in the "trade pubs" of the industry here. There is no trace of these guys but there should be.

No French Oak has touched this juice, nor has a PR firm written glamorous narratives about the winemaster. This juice could have arrived in a stainless steel tanker but the result is a proudly pedestrian taste that proves wine under $10 can be fun.

Enjoy!

consistent from the nose to the mouth to the finish. A little sweet but reasonably complex and keep in mind that the great vintages from great vineyards drunken when at their best (whether Clarets, CA varietals, Burgundies, Chateauneufs) are all "sweet" aka "possessing good fruit".

if one of your tests of a good wine is whether the wine can be drunk by itself or with absolute minimal food and whether the last glass tastes as good as the first then this is a great bargain despite it's low price!

Then again if you prefer Sangiovese which meet none of the above stick to them and at least have the pleasure of having paid a lot for your bottle.

I think this wine was absolutely phenomenal for the price. Ran across it at TJs in Portland, OR for $6. Shocking. My note:

Tasted by dbp on 1/18/2010 & rated 89 points: Obviously, fairly low expectations for a NV Oregon PN at a $6 price point, but also I was so shocked when I saw it on the shelf I had to give it a whirl. Pop and poured. Very light, see through garnet color. The nose smells exactly as it should... sweet smelling, of tart light red berries, slight camp fire, very light oak (in a very pleasing way), light bit of barrel funk... wow, this smells exactly like going out wine tasting in the Willamette Valley. On the palate, tart berries with camp fire, very light integrated tannins, a twig, and very soft and pleasing on the palate. Spice begins strongly on the finish, trailing into tart wild red berries, and great acidity lingers. Nothing remarkably complex, but it tastes 100% correct for what it is, and is shockingly drinkable and delicious right now. Honestly, this is drinking better than 90% of Oregon Pinot Noirs in the $20-30 range do on release. A fantastic QPR. The finest QPR I've ever had in Pinot Noir from anywhere, and it's actually all Willamette Valley fruit. Hope these guys can keep this up, but I would think someone bulked off a lot of quality fruit for this blend. There are multiple cases of this in my future; hope there isn't bottle variation.
